The fourth edition of the textbook presents topics of midwifery and gynecological nursing in 12 sections and 71 chapters. Photographs, illustrations and tables are included in all relevant topics. Medications and instruments used in midwifery and gynecology practice are presented. Essentials of midwifery practice in institutional and community settings as well as domiciliary midwifery and neonatal care are explained. Nursing management of women going through normal antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum experience as well as women experiencing complications and unexpected emergencies are explained. Care of newborns in the immediate period following birth and continued care during initial days of life are detailed. A special feature is the inclusion of nursing process with all relevant topics and a list of all possible nursing care plan formats in the appendix. The care plans would serve nursing students to plan and provide comprehensive care to mothers and newborns. Benign and malignant conditions of the reproductive and accessory organs in women are detailed in the gynecology nursing section with special emphasis on nursing management of women with such problems. Menstrual cycle disorders, infectious conditions of pelvic organs and, infertility and its management are explained. Study questions are given at the end of every chapter.
